Flanges are devices that are employed in connecting different piping fixtures efficiently. Stainless Steel Flanges are high-strength components that provide stability to piping modules. These flanges are employed to terminate the flow and are usually bolted in place. The SS Flange can be customized as per customer requirements. The Stainless Steel 304 Flanges are designed with an 18/8 chromium and nickel content giving them good resistance to oxidative and corrosive reducers. The Stainless Steel 316 Flanges, on the contrary, have a good content of chromium, nickel as well as molybdenum giving them higher resistance to pitting as well as corrosion and oxidation compared to the 304-grade flanges.

A Stainless Steel Socket Weld Flange is seen in small pipes of high-pressure systems. These flanges are inserted in a socket and welded with a single fillet weld. The Stainless Steel Lap Joint Flanges are designed with a stub end with a lap-joint ring flange. The stub end is butt-welded with the ring to strongly align the mating flange. A Stainless Steel Plate Flange is a circular flat disc that allows it to be bolted to another pipe. These flanges use a gasket to securely hold the plain flange in place. The Stainless Steel Orifice Flange is engineered with a raised or a ring-type joint face. These flanges measure the rate of fluid flow in the system. Stainless Steel Flanges Manufacturing Process

Flanges are manufactured in a variety of techniques, including cast, cut, and forged procedures.

Cast manufacturing method
Molten metal is poured into a mould to make the required shape in cast manufacturing method. The mould is opened and the casting is extracted once the liquid metal has hardened, then machined to the required dimensions and surface polish. Casting flanges are less expensive to create, and the manufacturing process produces less waste. Due to the less compact internal structure, there may be more faults than with forged flanges. As a result, cast flanges in high-pressure or high-temperature applications may be more prone to failure.

Cut Flange Production Method
The flattening of steel metal stock with rollers to thin the material until it achieves the desired plate thickness is the first step in the cut flange (or plate flange) manufacturing process. The flange is then cut to the proper Outer Diameter (OD) and Inner Diameter (ID) using a torch, laser, or water jet (excluding blind flanges, which have no centre bore and do not require an ID).

The flange is further machined to exact specifications, with bolt holes and appropriate serrations cut. The cut manufacturing method produces flanges at a lower cost, but there is more scrap material waste. Cut flanges are often weaker than flanges made using other methods.

Forged Flange Production Method
Heating steel billets, slabs, or other metal stock, then compressing the material with a power hammer, press, or die to shape the flange from a solid state, is how forged flanges are made. For increased strength, this method creates a continuous grain flow. After forging, the flange is machined and polished to the required dimensions. Forged flanges are more resistant to wear, although they are more expensive to manufacture.
